Running from July 15th to 21st, this top-level tournament has 187 teams from 39 nations competing at the Highfields Sports Complex. Eleven New Zealand teams will be supported by our physios on and off the field during pre-training games and official matches.
Our physio team of Sam Mitchie, Celia Allerby, Sagar Billimoria, Sarah Fanuatanu, Alannah Meikle, Arsian Paki, Julian Hafoka, Leah Morrison, Rachael Lewis, and Katie Winchester have been preparing for the trip for most of the year, and are excited for the experience.
“We’ve been working behind the scenes a lot this year to prepare ourselves and our players for the tournament. They are in top condition with awesome gameplay and we can’t wait to see how they do throughout the competition” says lead physio Sarah Fanuatanu.
“The selection of our physiotherapists to support the Touch Blacks at the World Cup speaks volumes about their expertise and dedication to sports healthcare services and rehabilitation. Our staff will be working around the clock to guarantee the athletes are on form and in proper condition by giving them strategies for preventing injuries, rehabilitation programmes or even treating them there on the field” says Habit Health Clinical Executive, Julie Cameron.
As a physiotherapist, the world is your clinic. This opportunity to work at the Touch Rugby World Cup in Nottingham is a testament to the global impact of our profession.
