Hand Therapy

Free and easy movement of your hands, wrists and elbows are essential for daily tasks. However, injuries from overuse, strains or sprains from sport, and accidents are really common.

At Habit Health, our team of hand therapists are specially trained to focus on the area from the elbow to the fingertips and help with sprains and strains, fractures, tendon and nerve injuries.

Hand therapy services also include scar and pain management, exercises for strengthening muscles and improving range of motion.

If you have an injury, hand therapy is covered by ACC, and you don’t need a referral from your GP. You can book your appointment online easily here.

Treatment by one of our hand therapists typically starts by running a thorough evaluation and assessment of your condition involving motion, strength, sensation and function testing. Based on this assessment and a review of your medical history, we build a treatment plan for you including exercises for the affected hand, wrist, or forearm. We might also use heat or cold therapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, or laser therapy as part of the treatment.

Our aim is to help you get back to doing your everyday tasks without pain or restriction.
