Throughout both Eastern and Western history, massage has been one of the earliest interventions used to try and help relieve pain. At Habit Health, our massage therapists are trained in sports, clinical, deep tissue, and Tuina Chinese medicinal massage techniques.
Who Can Benefit?
Massage therapy is for everyone! Whether you’re a busy mum needing to stay on your toes, a professional with tension, an athlete looking to recover, or simply someone needing to unwind, massage can support your health and wellness goals.
How Should I Prepare? Before your session, you may be asked to complete a short medical history form. Wear comfortable clothing and arrive a few minutes early to settle in before your appointment.
What Happens During the Session? Your therapist will begin with a brief consultation to discuss your goals, any concerns, and the most suitable approach for your needs. Your therapist will also gather palpatory (touch-based) information to tailor the treatment to your individual needs. The session may include techniques such as deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, effleurage (long strokes), petrissage (kneading), and tapotement (percussive movements). Our practitioners will be delighted to explain any techniques they use to help you feel informed and comfortable throughout the session.
Your therapist will step outside while you prepare and get comfortable on the massage table. The treatment room is kept warm and quiet, with soft music to help you relax. We strive to create a safe, comfortable environment for all clients.
What Should I Expect After the Massage? After your session, your therapist may offer aftercare advice, including hydration tips or guidance on activities to avoid. Some people feel deeply relaxed, while others may experience mild tenderness. This is normal as your body adjusts to the treatment. Your practitioner will guide you through this process and recommend any necessary follow-up care.
How Will You Feel After? Massage can leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed, and sometimes a little sore, especially if deeper techniques were used. Staying hydrated and taking it easy post-massage can help enhance the benefits and minimize any discomfort.
