Meet Lara: Our new trainer focused on women’s health

We’re excited to welcome Lara, a personal trainer with a passion for women’s health to our team at Habit Health. Lara's journey into personal training started four years ago at Les Mills, where she worked with a broad range of clients before narrowing her focus to strength training.

Lara’s career took an exciting turn when she decided to move to Brisbane, Australia, in search of warm weather and new experiences. While working at Total Fusion Platinum, a popular Aussie gym, she gained invaluable experience with a diverse group of clients. “It was an incredible learning experience,” she says. “But after a while, I started to miss home, and I wanted to be back with family in Wellington.”

Although she loved Brisbane’s year-round summer, Lara is happy to be back in Wellington, embracing the city's four seasons—and the special excitement that comes with the arrival of summer here.

At Habit Health, Lara’s approach to personal training is fully aligned with our holistic philosophy. She believes that health goes beyond aesthetics, focusing instead on how the body feels and moves. For Lara, it’s about supporting all aspects of well-being: physical fitness, mental health, and nutrition. “Training isn’t just about how you look,” Lara explains. “It’s about feeling strong, mobile, and clear-minded—and that looks different for everyone.”

Lara’s own experience of feeling lethargic, and not quite right, drove her passion for strength training. After she started working out, she felt physically stronger, more mobile, and mentally sharper. “Getting into the gym transformed my life,” she says. “I want others to feel as good as I did.”

Interestingly, Lara is also a qualified makeup artist who once worked on weddings and special events. While this may seem like a different field, she draws a link between the two professions. “Whether it’s makeup or personal training, I love helping people feel good about themselves,” she says.

Lara believes the gym is for everyone, no matter their personal fitness level or goals. Her commitment to helping others feel their best—whether that’s through strength training, mobility work, or just getting into a good routine—makes her a perfect fit for the Habit Health team.
