Starting in the UK, Wayne grew up playing every sport he could - football, rugby, karate, skiing, and volleyball. However, with all those sports came the inevitable injuries!
But it wasn’t until he finally saw a physio that he realised how life-changing the profession could be. He ditched his original childhood plan to become a lawyer and instead dove headfirst into physiotherapy, knowing it was the right fit for him.
In 2004, Wayne moved to New Zealand, where he spent several years at Habit Health. He quickly became known for his expertise in treating shoulder and knee injuries, working with everyone from young athletes with dislocated shoulders to elderly patients with rotator cuff tears.
He took his skills to Dubai, where he spent four and a half years working in a completely different environment. Dubai’s diverse population meant Wayne was working with people from all over the world—Europe, Asia, and Africa. This gave him a chance to really broaden his perspective, learning how to change his approach to suit a wide range of cultural backgrounds and patient needs.
Wayne’s now back with us at Habit Health, and we couldn’t be happier. He’s currently working with the Integrated Care Pathway (ICP) program. ICP is ACC’s innovative way of managing people with injuries that require coordinated rehabilitation services. It’s a challenging area, but Wayne’s experience makes him the perfect fit. Whether it’s providing second opinions, supporting new grads, or tackling the trickiest cases, Wayne’s got it covered.
When he’s not at the clinic, you might just find Wayne on stage. He and his wife are both into musical theatre, performing in productions like Chicago, Oliver, and The Full Monty. Wayne doesn’t just have a passion for helping people—he’s got a flair for the local arts scene too!
