If you’ve ever walked into a Habit Health group fitness class led by Arlene Thomas-Hewitt and thought, “I know her from somewhere,” you’re not alone.
Arlene brings a wealth of experience and passion to her classes, shaped by a sports career that saw her earn a World Champion title in Aerobicsport. Her journey has been defined by energy, dedication, and a commitment to helping others achieve their best. Beyond her competitive success, she has coached other athletes to national championship titles, combining her experience, technical skill and natural ability to inspire others.
Her love of fitness began with years of competitive gymnastics and dance, eventually leading her to her first aerobics class. What started as a fun way to stay active with her siblings quickly became a lifelong career. From her first steps as an instructor to dominating the world stage in Aerobicsport, Arlene’s dedicated journey has been one of commitment and absolute love for the craft.
Arlene has also served as a personal trainer specialising in strength and conditioning for athletes, a master trainer for Radical Fitness, and most recently as head of sport at Chilton Saint James School, where she led with vision and purpose.
At Habit Health, Arlene’s classes are where her energy and experience truly shine. She teaches power, stretch, and her personal favourite—Pilates. “Pilates is transformative,” she says. “It changes how you think about movement and breathing, and it enhances everything else you do—whether it’s sport, fitness, or simply living well. I incorporate it into my Strength and Stretch classes so participants get the best of both worlds.”
Recently, Arlene earned advanced-level reformer qualifications, a challenge she describes as deeply rewarding. Inspired, she even brought her own reformer into her home practice, demonstrating her commitment to continually growing her skills. “Pilates has shown me how resilient and capable the body can be,” she says.
Outside of the studio, Arlene enjoys life on her lifestyle block, where family traditions, poolside gatherings, and property projects bring her joy. Her love of movement has clearly inspired her kids, who shine in athletics, rugby, and even Aerobicsport.
Whether you’re looking to improve your strength, flexibility, or overall well-being, Arlene’s classes are designed to empower and inspire. “You can always get back into exercise,” she says. “At Habit Health, we’re here to support your journey every step of the way."
