Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been around for centuries because it works. Don't worry about needles – most first-time acupuncture patients are genuinely surprised at how comfortable the experience turns out to be.

By stimulating the nerves within the skin and muscles, as well as the endorphins and serotonin, acupuncture modifies the way pain signals are received. It also has a balancing and regulating effect on the neurophysiological system of the body.

All of the Physiotherapists who practice acupuncture at Habit Health are members of the Physiotherapy Acupuncturists Association of New Zealand, so you can be sure of the highest standard of practice and ongoing education.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment technique whereby an acupuncture needle is inserted into a muscle to treat myofascial trigger points. A trigger point is an irritable spot within tight muscle fibres which can cause pain and impaired function. Dry needling aims to decrease tightness, improve flexibility and reduced discomfort.

This service is provided by our skilled clinicians across New Zealand.
