Evans Bay Extended Hours

17 Dec 2021

Evans Bay is introducing extended opening hours, giving you more opportunity to fit in a workout. Find out how to keep safe while staff are off-site.

To help you fit in a workout that suits your schedule, we’re introducing extended hours at Habit Health Evans Bay Fitness Club!

We want to make sure we keep Habit Health Evans Bay a safe and pleasant environment for everyone to workout. During our Extended Hours, there will be periods when the gym is unstaffed. Read on to learn about some of the measures we’ve put in place to ensure your safety at the gym during extended hours.

Safety first

We're always looking out for you when you’re inside our gyms, night and day. With 24/7 CCTV monitoring and emergency help points throughout the gym, there’s always help at hand should you ever need it. We have an Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs) and first aid kits available for emergency assistance, and we are offering special inductions to take members through our new setup, so you can use it safely and confidently. You'll find some key features below:

Cameras

We have CCTV cameras throughout our gyms and our 24/7 CCTV team monitors our gyms night and day to ensure your safety, so you can have peace of mind working out around the clock. We also monitor gym tag usage by CCTV.

Help Points

Emergency help points are located in the disabled toilet and at reception so you can get emergency assistance if you require it. We're pretty sure you'll never need to use it, but it's good to know there’s always help at hand if you need it.

Telephone

We have a telephone on reception, that you can direct dial Harbour City Security for assistance

First Aid Kit

We provide essential access to First Aid kits across all our gyms. All our staff, PTs, and cleaners are first aid qualified so they can help in a first aid emergency inside our gyms.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

We're proud to have AEDs in all our gyms, providing emergency life-saving support for our members and the local communities they serve. These are usually installed on a wall near our entry pods and have full instructions on the box to guide someone through an emergency

New hours + extended hours

To access the gym during unstaffed hours, you’ll need to complete a form and safety induction with reception.

Ensure you stay safe in the gym even while staff are away

Safety induction

Take our safety induction with a member of the team to ensure you know where all of the safety equipment is and that you know how to use it in case of an emergency, e.g. health points, AED, First Aid emergency and fire exits.

Are you fit to train?

Ensure that you are in good health and that you are “fit to train.” If you have a condition that you think may pose a risk to you, ask our team to advise you on how to exercise safely.

Are you familiar with the equipment or exercise?

Some equipment or exercises may be complex, especially the first time you try them. Make sure you are familiar with and can confidently operate equipment or carry out exercises. If you are unsure about anything at all, please speak to the team. If you need an induction, just speak to your Fitness Club Leads Ava and Hannah.

Know your environment

Get to know your gym! Make sure you are familiar with the layout and equipment and that you know where the emergency help points are – you will find them around the gym). Also, make sure that you know where the emergency exits are, and where the defibrillator is located. Being able to recall this information and act quickly is critical if you plan on training on your own in the gym.

Listen to your body

If you feel unwell, injure yourself or are concerned for your wellbeing seek help immediately. You can call Harbour City Security from the number at reception if the gym is unstaffed, and our remote security team will provide urgent support or guide you on how to use the emergency help points.

If you have any other questions or concerns regarding unstaffed training in the gym, please speak with the team at reception. Click here or call 04 387 2888.
